At Meano, we consider ourselves experts and leaders in the field of engineering and fabrication with regards to earth moving, surface mining, equipment. We are especially focused on the remanufacture/ repair of undercarriage for a wide range of mining machines. In fact, Meano has a division and workshop dedicated to this function.
Below we have compiled a review of the services our “Undercarriage Division” provides to its customers:
BULLDOZERS
Caterpillar: D6R, D6T, D7R, D8R, D8T, D9R, D9T, D10R, D10T, D11R, D11T.
Komatsu: D275-5, D375-3, D375-5, D375-6, D475-5.
- Strip, clean and assess the condition and scope of work required for the remanufacture/ repair of the track frames. This includes sand blasting and Non-Destructive Testing (NDT).
- Strip the telescopic section, ensure the condition of the recoil spring.
- Strip the slack adjuster and assess. Repair or manufacture parts to OE standards and reassemble.
- Remove and replace the chrome sleeves. We manufacture chrome sleeves for all the above-mentioned dozers.
- Assess all major and minor bogies. Repair all damaged areas. This will include the buildup and restoration of the track guide mounting area, the removal and/or repair of roller and idler cap bolt holes on both major and minor bogies. The line boring and repair of major and minor bogies where bogie pins have collapsed and damaged the bores. All these repairs are done to the highest standards and tolerances.
- On the rear section the frame is extensively checked for cracks. If found these are repaired and reinforced. The base of the frame where the resilient pads are mounted are given particular attention. If there are cracks here it means the inner tube is cracked. The belly plate is removed, the tube repaired, and a new belly plate fitted.
- The front sealing area is checked. If damaged this area is pre-machined, built up and machined to original specification.
- Pivot shaft bores, the split bronze on steal bushes are removed and the bores checked. If not within specification, the holes are built up and line bored to standard.
- The equalizer bar mounting holes are, if they do not clamp a sample pin, the bores are built up and line bored.
- Once all parts are ready, the assembly process starts. A variety of hydraulic equipment and jigs are utilized for the assembly process depending on the size and type of track frame. Especially made tools and dies are used to press the bogie pins without damaging them and press in the recoil springs safely.
The parts used for the remanufacture depend on customer preferences. This ranges from entirely OEM, entirely after market or a combination of both. Our stock units are assembled with OE parts in the most critical areas and carefully selected aftermarket parts for rest.
We have great success in these rebuilds, our units are represented extensively throughout all mining areas in South Africa. Our units have been exported to our customers in neighboring countries as well as Central and West Africa.
DRILL RIGS
Ingersoll Rand: DM30.
Atlas Copco: Pit Viper PV271, PV351
Terex: Reedrill SKF11, SKF12.
Sandvik: D25K, D45K, D75K
- We have successfully manufactured complete track frames for all the above except the Pit Viper.
- For frame rebuilds, the track frames are completely stripped, cleaned and sand blasted.
- NDT is performed throughout the frames and reports issued.
- All cracks are attended to and reinforcing is done where necessary.
- The track roller and track guide rails are checked, and all damaged bolt holes are repaired. The rail is machined to create a perfect mating surface for the fitment of all the undercarriage.
- If the rails are beyond repair these are removed and replaced. The new rails are machined to original specification and all new bolt holes drilled and tapped.
- The final drive mounting area is carefully checked for cracks. The spigot diameter is checked to ensure the final drive fits to the correct tolerance. If oversized, the bore is built up and machined to original specification.
- The recoil mounting and idler slide areas are checked. If there is excessive play, these areas are rebuilt to standard.
- The pivot shaft tube on top of the frames is checked and repaired if necessary. If there are Vesconite bushes fitted, these are removed. New bushes are manufactured and fitted.
- Equalizer bar mounting checked and repaired if required.
Our fabrication and engineering divisions have also successfully rebuilt and repaired drill rig masts, rod holders, rod changer units, carousels
EXCAVATORS/ FACE SHOVELS
Caterpillar: Cat6030, Cat6050, Cat6060, Cat6090
Komatsu: PC1250, PC2000, PC3000, PC5500, PC8000.
Liebherr: R9150, R9250, R9350, R9400, R996.
- The frames are stripped, cleaned and sand blasted.
- NDT is performed throughout the frames and a report is issued.
- All cracks are attended to and repaired.
- Structural plates that show excessive impact damage, are removed, and replaced.
- Internal supports and bulk heads are carefully checked and replaced if necessary. Reinforcing plates are fitted where required.
- All track roller mounting areas, top and bottom, as well as center girder mounting bolt areas are checked for cracks and stripped threads. These are repaired and machined.
- If the track roller mounting rail is damaged beyond repair, it is removed and replaced. The track frame is machined, and all new holes are drilled and tapped.
- The track tension adjustor and idler slide areas are rebuilt for a perfect fit. This has a significant effect on the longevity of the rebuild frames.
- NDT is conducted throughout the repair process to ensure the integrity of the final product.
Our engineering facility has the required machine tools to undertake these major repairs on these extra-large components. Our floor borer as well as horizontal and vertical borers have the capacity and artisans with the required skills.
- Track tensioners
- Idler wheels
- Track rollers
- Drive sprockets
- Track links, pad type only.
